I’m the king. That’s what I am
Gone to the store for bread and jam
Cat food, cling-wrap
here on the list
dog treats and chocolate
apples and chicken
Melon always make it a good day
slow now, the load’s getting heavy
Cheese, and mushrooms, and some sort of crackers
almonds, the pin code, rolling buffet
Milk in cartons
reminds me of glaciers
watery worlds all safe inside
Shopping carts packing bags, parking lot noises.
Walk past a man with a sign
Narrow this kingdom
peered through a blind,
other side rich and moving
Still it’s a kingdom, complete, with a hero
With lovers and idols and traitors and pawns
This kingdom has power, love and beginnings
Stepping is easy, living is fine
Think about beauty. Think about giving
Brothers are drowning, offer a line
